James (Jim) E. Ketchel, Age 85, of North Branch, MN. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 12, 2026.
Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Jim was married to wife Karen for over 59 years. He was a devoted husband who loved his wife deeply and cherished the family they built together. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in the people they became. He will be remembered for his steady love, his loyalty,
and the many memories he created with those closest to him. He had a love for the open road and enjoyed driving and traveling.
Some of his happiest adventures were trips with Karen to Texas. Jim also found joy camping with Karen and the boys at Cross Lake, being active while living at their Hillcrest Park summer trailer, time with his grandchildren, simply being together with family and friends. Country western music was another special part of his life, providing a soundtrack to many cherished memories.
Above all, he was a proud Marine. His military service was an important part of who he was, and he carried that pride throughout his life. His dedication, courage, and commitment to serving his country will always be remembered.
Though he is deeply missed, his memory lives on in the hearts of his sons, family, and all who knew and loved him. We will remember his love for his family, his pride in his Marine service, and the countless moments that made him so special. He may no longer be driving the open road with us, but the memories of the miles shared, the music played and the love he gave will remain forever.
Jim is survived by sons, Todd (Maria), Brian (Janine), Danny (Jennifer); grandchildren, Brittney (Joel) Fischer, Joe (Kylie), Courtney, Alex (Caylee Klug),Cole Sorenson, Wesley Sorenson, Lily Sorenson; great-grandson, Blake Fischer; brother Gary (Nancy); brother-in-law Ron Krueger and many extended family and friends.
