In a world where most people wait to be spoken to, Maureen was already three sentences into a conversation, learning your name, your story, and whether you’d voted. That was simply who she was, a person of great curiosity in others, a desire to help those who needed it, and the ability to draw people out. She came into this world with a personality too big to be contained by any room she entered. She worked hard from her earliest years, she gave her all in the jobs she worked and enjoyed the people she met along the way. Maureen had many opinions and loved sharing them with others and she had a genuine desire to know yours. She cared deeply about the world around her, following politics with the intensity of someone who believed it actually mattered, because to Maureen, it did.
She loved music, laughter, and life. To be loved by Maureen was to be truly loved. Her dedication and love for Jim was a steady and mutual foundation to their lives. Her friendships were not casual, they were commitments. Her family and friends knew a love from her that was filled with honor and integrity. When Maureen chose you, she chose you completely. From neighbors to strangers on the street she generously gave her time and comfort if you were in need. Those lucky enough to call her their own built their lives, in part, around the certainty of her. The world is quieter today. It shouldn’t be, and she would have had something to say about that. For those of us fortunate enough to love her we will forever be sad not hearing her voice in our lives.
A private celebration for Maureen will be held.
