Donald H. Richardson

Donald H. Richardson, 93, was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He passed away in his home on December 19, 2025 with time to share moments with loved ones. Born on August 17, 1932 in Staples, Minnesota, Don lived with a studious curiosity and a great love for his family.

Don grew up on a farm in Greater Minnesota and later served in the Army during the Korean War. His children remember numerous camping trips, and his grandchildren remember looking out into the swampland searching for birds in Don’s Forest Lake home. He found resonance in the reflective beauty of nature, and wanted to share those moments with the people he loved.

An avid reader, Don was never without a book. He especially enjoyed historical novels and nature books. His love for cooking crossed into his reading life, as he would often read a cookbook from cover to cover. Don’s family remembers him well by his rib and lasagna recipes, and the vest he always wore when he went grocery shopping.

Don is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Mark (Bev Hei), Steve, Tom (Kim), John (Dawn), and Deb Leibfried (Greg); daughter-in-law, Bobbie; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by parents, Howard and Sadie Marie; and siblings, JoAnn, Dale, and Vera.
