Alcuin "Al" Wensmann

July 22, 1935 ~ September 24, 2025

Age 90 formerly of Mounds View. Loving Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa & Brother, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025.

Preceded in death by wife, LouAnn; parents, John & Rose; siblings, Dick, AnnaMae Stroeing. Survived by children, Debbie (Dan) Korolchuk, Karen (Tom) Wall, Janet (Doug) Rydberg, David (Kris); 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Herb, Patty Wegleitner, Urban, Joie (Ted) Hoffman, Clarice Schleppenbach; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Al loved to fish up at the family cabin in Richmond; he also loved to play cards, cribbage and 500 were his favorites. Al was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and longtime member of the Teamsters Union.

A celebration of Al’s life and liturgy service 12 PM Friday, October 10th with visitation beginning at 10 AM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. A private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.

  1. On behalf of the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, we give thanks for Al’s military service to our country in the Army.

  2. Alcuin Wensmann was a super cool guy. His wife Lou was a wonderful and super sweet lady. I first met them in the early 90’s when we were neighbors up at the lake. It didn’t matter that they were 20 or 25 years older than me, we became good friends. Not only did we hang out at the lake and have fun, they would ALWAYS invite me to get together with them 3 or 4 times every offseason. Al’s big booming laugh is something that I will miss. I can still hear him and Ina arguing over some meaningless card or dice game. Those two always gave each other a hard time while playing, and it was hilarious. I don’t doubt that Al and Lou are now together in heaven and enjoying each other’s company like they always did. I will miss them both!
