Michael "Mike" F. Carney

Age 80 of Centerville, formerly of Forest Lake.

Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa “Papa”, and Brother went home peacefully to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 23, 2025 at Amira Choice, Forest Lake.

Preceded in death by parents, Frank & Laverne; in-laws, Leonard & Dorothy Sofie.

Survived by wife of 61 years, Ginger; children, Gina (Chris) Eng, Tom Sr.; grandchildren, Morgan (Sam) Dufault, Jordan (Samantha) Eng, Tom Jr. (Kayla), Carson (Lynnea) Eng, Alex, Mady (Jon) Eng, and Vinny;  great-grandchildren, Harlyn, Flora, Landon, Aubree, Casey, Jameson, Lettie, and Lincoln; brother, David (Arlene)

Mike was born on April 20, 1945, to Frank and Laverne Carney and spent his early years on the East Side. He attended Presentation Grade School and graduated from Hill High School in 1963. In 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Virginia “Ginger” Sofie, and shortly after, served in the Army National Guard.

Mike was Co-owner of Stein-Carney Insurance in Roseville and continued in the insurance business for 25 years. He moved to Forest Lake in 1973 to raise his family, later retiring in Centerville. He had a deep passion for golf and was a member at Forest Hills Golf Club for over 25 years. He loved spending his winters exploring the desert in sunny Surprise, AZ. Mike cherished his lifelong friendships from Presentation and Hill High School and was known for his curious nature, always eager to learn new things and meet new people.

Visitation 4-6 PM Thursday, September 4th with a time of sharing beginning at 5:30 PM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday September 5th, with visitation beginning at 10 AM at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Little Canada.  Interment, Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery.
