Dawn M. Hughes

Age 66 of Marine on St. Croix. Loving Daughter, Sister & Aunt, passed away on June 24, 2025. Preceded in death by husband, Ross Grotbeck; mother, Martha Hughes. Survived by father, Robert Hughes; siblings, Sara (Mike Chopp) Hughes, Peter (Lydia) Hughes, Paul (Kelly) Hughes, Andrew Hughes; Ross’ children, Eric (Elaine) Grotbeck, Chantel Acevedo and their children; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Dawn had a great childhood in Richfield Minnesota. After high school she worked and paid for her way through college. Dawn was the only one of five siblings to continue on to college and receive a Bachelors degree. Dawn was a lead trainer with Hired, which included helping people find jobs and meaning in employment.  She made an improvement in the lives of many.

Dawn met the love of her life, Ross, and was married by Santa at the North Pole in Finland. They shared a birthday, adventures and a love of music. 

Dawn loved dogs and recently rescued her current poodle best-friend Butters. Dawn also enjoyed yoga, completing a one-year yoga course at the University of Minnesota and becoming a yoga instructor at the YMCA in Forest Lake Minnesota. She loved her beautiful gardens, long walks, traveling and meeting with family and friends.

Most of all she loved God all of her life and had deep faith and hope, and was always curious about the spirituality of other cultures. In passing from the earthly to heavenly she said she was going on her next adventure.

She was a treasure and will be deeply missed by all.

A celebration of Dawn’s life will be held at a later date.
