Age 98, formerly of St. Paul. Loving Dad & Grandpa, passed away on October 31, 2024.
Preceded in death by wife, Verna; 4 siblings. Survived by children, David (Zoe), Patrice (Lance) Vandelinde, Julie (Jason) Tusler; grandchildren, Kaleb, Jacob (Christen), Madelyn (Mackynzie), Zachary, Christina, Stephan, Gahret; nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Russell was a proud World War II Army veteran. After serving his country he returned home to the East Side of St. Paul and worked as a butcher for 46 years. He was an avid golfer, bowler and bingo player.
Russell’s life will be celebrated with a gathering from 4-8 PM Tuesday, November 5th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Private interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Little Canada. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
On behalf of the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, we give thanks for Russell’s military service to our country in the Army.
when i first met Russ (my son Kalebs grandpa) i was dating his daughter Patrice..i have never seen such a MN guy in my life..leaning over a BBQ flippin food, apron on and beer in hand..that made a great impression with me on what he was all about..then i saw him at a gas station a few days later and i was on my way to a job site..a he told me he was going to work as well as he bought scratch off tickets lol..what a great human being..my condolences for your loss..:(
