  1. Molly and family,

I just heard the news and am so very sorry for your loss. I met Dave several years ago as a Taxaide Volunteer as well as benefiting from his wonderful tomato harvests. He was always cheerful, helpful and smiling. He has been missed. I want you to know he made an impact on those he met.
I will keep you all on my thoughts and prayers

  2. Mr. Kryzer was my 7th grade science teacher at Central, back in 1990 or so. He definitely instilled a love of science in me. I am so very sorry to hear of his loss.

  3. Molly and family, I feel so fortunate to have gotten to know Dave even just a bit over the last few years when you came to visit us in Michigan. He handled everything with grace and humor though he was clearly struggling with what was happening to his body. I just wish we could have spent time together before all this happened! A tribute to a life well-lived. Much love, Peter

  4. I saw this pop up in my facebook feed and the following popped into my head, ” Kryzer Plays Cards On Fat Girls Stomachs.” Kingdom, Phylum,Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. Nearly 40 years later and it was as clear as the day he taught us that mnemonic device! That says a lot about him as a teacher and person.

  5. We send our love and prayers to all of you. Dave was a very special person.
Carol (Schmidt) Hines and Glen Hines Winona, MN

  6. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and especially friend. He will be greatly missed. His garden was to be admired. We all shared in the fruits of his labor; something he was exceptionally proud of. Our condolences to Molly and the family.

  7. Molly and family,
There are no words to help and my heart breaks for you. I am so sorry I can’t be there to help in some way. Many thoughts and prayers are going your way and wishes for peace and strength. God bless, joy

  8. The faculty lunch room at “Old Central” was a meeting daily for us. Dave had a favorite metal lunch box (like an elementary students) with a matching thermos. The theme picture was a character named Korg, thus the nickname I called him for years thereafter. Molly and family you will bein my thoughts and prayers, may peace be with you.

  9. Since we both participated in the early bird swim at the Southwest pool, Dave was one of the first teachers I met when I came to Central in 1999. Dave loved sharing his love of the natural world with his students. Always quick to smile, he was a cheerful, thoughtful and caring colleague. His teaching touched many lives and will be missed. My sympathies to Molly, his families and friends.

  10. Dave was a good friend who welcomed me to my job in 1980 and helped me throughout my career. He loved working with 7th graders and was always looking for ways to improve his biology course. The rest of us in the science department (Brian, Jim and myself) at Central / Century had many fun years with Dave. He’ll be missed! Scott Walcker

  11. Dave was a great guy and never let anything get him down at school. When I was asked to teach 7th Grade science on short notice for nearly a quarter, he was there to give support and made sure I had what I needed. He greeted everyone with a smile and was always positive. He will truly be missed.

  12. Will never forget when he arrived at Central for his first year and stated, “I can’t wait for the kids to get here”. For years I called him Howdy Doody. He seemed to like it. Hope you are smiling somewhere, Howdy. Willard

  13. Dave’s Cotter High School classmates send their condolences to Dave’s family. Dave was well liked and a fun person. I remember his yellow Beetle car was carried up the step of the Rec Center at the astonishment of our principal. The class will dedicate a page in our Memorial Book in honor of Dave. RIP

  14. My sincere condolences to Molly and family. Dave was that teacher you always wanted your kids to have. I enjoyed the year we worked together and the many years of friendship.

  15. Molly and family, we are so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I was so fortunate to know him first as a teacher, and later as a colleague. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with you and you family.

  16. 1971, I moved from Winona MN to Forest Lake to start a teaching career which would end up being the love of my life. My weekends were at times interference to my week during 35 years of junior high. The never ending stream of kid antics was amazing!

It was always a special feeling and connection to have other southern Minnesota transplants arrive in Flake, there is an unspoken connection that if I need to explain further, you won’t understand.

Upon retirement back to Winona, I have kept the Roberts and Mattson alert connection where from time to time I receive notify landings of students, community members and an occasional colleague. Those colleague name hits make me pause to remember those times, those hard to describe times of joy and learning we experienced through the years…. and how fast they are gone.

Take care Molly and family… rest well my friend, your name and image take me back to the days of Flake… I will miss you.

  17. Molly, so sorry for your loss of Dave. This has been a long journey for you. You and all your family are in our prayers. Nancy and Alan Smiley

  18. So sorry for your loss. He helped me a lot when I began my teaching career in Forest Lake. I always enjoyed talking fishing and hunting with Dave. Our prayers are with your family.
