LeRoy J. Houle

December 10, 2014
Age 76 of Centerville, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones on December 10, 2014. A Celebration of LeRoys life will be held from 2-6 PM Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Drive SW, Forest Lake.
Lee and I were classmates of 56′. He was as all have said the very best at whatever he did. I feel that I am very privileged to have to have known him. For a guy short in stature, he was a giant of a man to those who knew Lee.
We will miss you Lee. God bless you..

Leroy was always the life of the party. When he showed up everybody had more fun. One of the best all around guys I have ever met. Rest in peace old buddy. May the Lord Bless and keep you and be with your family and friends now and forevermore.
Leroy was more than a lot of things to more than a lot of people. He was a highly respected teacher, a natural born comedian, a teammate everyone wanted, a super bad ass “that everyone who didn’t know him” feared, the spark plug that could light a world on fire, a total wildman, a loving Father, and the kind of friend that made you feel really good inside every time you were around him. To me, Leroy was without any doubt the greatest Author that ever lived. He wrote many books including: “Do as I say not as I do” by Leroy Houle He also wrote the book on ” Tactful Cussing” how to get away with saying what everyone else wants to……but is afraid to, By Leroy Houle. He also wrote: “The fastest and most dangerous way to take a tree down” by Leroy Houle. I actually heard that the saying “safety first” was created because of Leroy! He defined, and re-defined the very definition of “Character” It was an absolute Honor to know this gracious man!! Thank you Leroy for being YOU!
On behalf of the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, we give thanks for LeRoy’s military service to our nation.
We met Leroy 15 yrs. ago at a golf course in Az. We are from Mn. & Leroy would meet up with Butch in the summer at Red Lake Falls (his home town) once a year. We were proud to call Leroy our friend. He truly was “one of a kind”! Tough on the outside but had a heart of gold. When he told us of his “adventures” years ago I am surprised he lived this long! Like he told us he was “the” bullshit salesman with a mouthful of samples. Rest in peace our dear friend Leroy.
Leroy was my classmate from the class of 1956.I remember the speed which he could generate on the Forest Lake Rangers football team.He was always so much fun and have enjoyed seeing him at class reunions. I am in Fl so will not be able to attend. Now he is safe in the arms of Jesus. A poem of comfort for those he leaves behind. He does not lead us year by year nor even day by day, but step by step our paths unfold, the Lord directs our way. Tomorrows plans we do not know we only know this minute, but He will say this is the way by faith now walk ye in it.And I am glad that it is so today is enough to bear and when tomorrows cares shall come His grace shall far exceed that care. Why need to worry then or fret, the God who gave His son, holds all our moments in His care and gives them one by one.
It was always a pleasure crossing paths with Lee…I would be welcomed with a bear hug and a greeting in French that was probably best left untranslated. Au Revoir Fifi La Flea
LeRoy was one of a kind, He had a Heart of GOLD. He always made sure that I and Vonne had plenty of Firewood and never would take a Dime You will be MISSED
Uncle Lee earned his reputation of being a “character” – took after his Dad and his older brothers, carrying on that tradition! He had a heart of gold in spite of being full of the devil. Make sure to check out the “Photos and Video” tab to see a mere glimpse of his life.
Marmalade on DARK toast. And I can still hear him telling the waitress HOW to get the toast dark enough. Miss his humor.
