I will like to thank all of you for taking time out of your busy schedule to join us in bidding farewell to Papi. As sad as it is, it is also time for us to remember Papi for who he was; a loving husband to his wife, my mother-in-law Mami, A good father to his four children: Junior, Justino, Marcel and my wife, Sony. He was also a strong pillar of support to his brothers and sisters, a very caring grandfather to his many grandchildren and one great grandchild. A great father-in-law and someone with a deep sense of responsibility towards others, especially towards his friends. Papi came here in July to attend our daughters Christening. At the time of his arrival, Papi looked strong and healthy. In August Papi suddenly became ill. We all thought and hoped that it was something minor. Papi was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The news was devastating to everyone but him. He was more worried about attending the baptism of his granddaughter then himself. We prayed and hoped that he would beat the cancer. Early on he responded positively to the treatment with little or no side effects usually associated with chemo. Even though it was incurable, we had hoped that the treatment would at least slow down the growth. But as weeks went by his condition began to deteriorate. And the only thing that was of interest to him was watching his grandchildren. We decided that he should travel to San Pedro for two weeks before returning to continue with the palliative care here. In the early part of March, we realized that he was too weak to travel. So we decided that he should continue with the care here. And shortly after that, he passed away. Even though we had expected it, it was still devastating. But we are happy to see him rest, finally at peace without the pain. And I ask that you continue to pray for him.
