LaVine B. Hurd

Age 86 of Wyoming, MN, formerly of Virginia, MN passed away May 31, 2011. A committal service will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, June 16th at Sunset Memorial Park, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd NE, Minneapolis. LaVine was born January 4, 1925 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to Edward and Augusta (Bergquist) Skarsbo. She grew up in Carpio, ND, graduating from high school in 1942. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with a major in English and Music in 1946. On June 23, 1951, LaVine was united in marriage to Everett A. Hurd and made their home in Virginia, Minnesota. LaVine taught in Aitkin, MN, Las Vegas, NV and Virginia, MN where she was an English teacher for 20 years at Roosevelt High School. While living in Virginia, she was a member of Virginia Study Club, Virginia Hospital Auxiliary and the Retired Educators Association of Minnesota. She was a longtime member of the former Wednesday Musicale. LaVine was preceded in death by husband, Everett on November 26, 2002. She is survived by her son, David Hurd; daughter, Barbara (Patrick) Napoli and granddaughters, Sarah Napoli, Danielle Napoli and Jillian Napoli.
