December 4, 1954 ~ February 2, 2022

Mark Allan Moody, Age 67, of Stacy, MN. Mark, a loving husband, father, brother, and an ever-loving caretaker of friends and family, passed away on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2022, at J.A. Wedum Hospice Care with his family at his side. Mark was born December 4th, 1954, in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in the area that he affectionally called Nord East. He attended Catholic School until the age of 16, when he left home to attend seminary school in Indiana. As it turned out, both he and the school agreed that becoming a priest was not his calling. He returned home and graduated from Edison High School in 1972. Mark decided to serve his country, and his Dad agreed with a statement, “Best thing for you, I’ll sign the papers” Mark was only 17 years old. He was stationed in Grand Forks, ND, Rapid City, SD, and served overseas in Thailand. He was in the Air Force for a total of 8 years. He then went on to work for the Twin City Arsenal for several years while getting his degree in Criminal Justice. Upon receiving the degree, he began working for Burlington Northern Railway, which is now called Burlington Northern Santa Fe as an officer within their police force. As the years went on, he became a Special Agent, Senior Special Agent working his way up to Lieutenant, and finally Assistant Deputy Chief of the five state northern corridor. He was a very dedicated employee and retired after 30 years. His phone rang at all hours of the night with the sound of a train whistle, and he was ready to take care of business. Mark planted a vineyard in 1998 with many varieties of grapes created from the U of M, and Typo Creek Vineyard was made. As an outlet for his grapes, he became a part-owner of the Northern Vineyard Winery in Stillwater, MN. He put much hard work into that vineyard, and he enjoyed it. Mark enjoyed retirement by doing many home projects and fixing his barn just like he wanted it. He finally had time to get out on the four-wheeler, the boat, and relax with a cup of coffee on the front patio. He loved his smoker grill and invited people to sample his ribs, potatoes, and jalapeño poppers. He humored Gwen and worked hard to set up for many yard parties. He enjoyed his life and loved to be around family. He was a caretaker to all who knew him. If someone needed something, Mark offered comfort or a helping hand. Mark met then married Gwen Danelius on July 9th, 1988. Mark was a loving father to his children and cared for them deeply. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Moody; and father, Erling Moody. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Moody; sons, Robert and Erik (Sarah); daughters, Susan Norberg and Lauren (Scott) Rethwill, Tristin Johnson; grandchildren, Ethan Zajaczkowski, Maci Norberg, Wolfgang and Kitzen Moody, Dominick and Asher Johnson; brothers, Jim (Kathy) Moody, Kevin (Diane) Moody, Sisters Jan (Tom) Becker, Christine (Christopher) Madrigal, Mary (Dave) Stinson. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday, February 11th with visitation one hour prior at St. Bridget of Sweden, 13060 Lake Blvd., Lindstrom. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
