December 10, 1947 ~ December 11, 2021

Age 74 of Wyoming, MN. Loving Husband, Step-Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother and Uncle, passed away peacefully, after a 6 year battle with cancer, on December 11, 2021. Out of high school, Rick proudly served 4 years in the Marine Corps. As a Vietnam veteran, he passed the time traveling and sharing his vocals and guitar skills in the band “Pink and Tretter.” His sister, Theresa and her friend, Robin, attest to being his first band groupies. Settling back home, Rick joined the Army National Guard where he enjoyed many years of camaraderie and overseas tours. In 1998 he married the love of his life, Karen. Upon completion of a year long deployment overseas, they settled in their home in Wyoming, MN, where Rick was able to live out his last days. Rick was a kind and generous person. He was a mentor/teacher to many. He held a special bond with each of his Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. Even through great pain, he smiled, joked and conversed with each person that paid him a visit. He is going to be greatly missed and his family and friends are thankful to know he is now pain free, at peace and in heaven. Preceded in death by parents, Francis and Marcella and brother, Bob. Survived by loving wife, Karen; step-children, Gary (Mel) Zemke, Kim (Mike) Zemke, Ron (Jenn) Zemke; grandchildren, Daniel & Kaitlynn Kowalski, Zach, Ella, Rachel & Megan Zemke, Sophie Zemke; great-grandson, Hayden Kowalski; siblings, Donna Johnson, Linda (Roland) Lillyblad, Bonita Tretter, Theresa (Bill) Witwicke; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A celebration of Rick’s life will take place at a later date.
