March 11, 1987 ~ June 12, 2021

Age 34 of North Branch, formerly of Forest Lake. Nathen Norman Waldo was born in Forest Lake to parents Harry Waldo and Sue Gerlach, little brother to Leah and Matt. Early in his life Nate gained his second father Johnny and his younger sister Jessica and little brother Jacob. Nate was a hard-working Crew Foreman of underground utilities at STF for nearly fifteen years. In love since they were children, he was married to Brooke and loved coming home to her and Diesel Dog each night. Through his marriage, he gained his second family—Nate was the son Carmen and Mark Schmidt never had and Collette’s big brother. Nate loved riding his motorcycle, playing games of all kinds and being outside—especially at the camper. All of his interests hinged on being around the people he loved, if you were his friend you were his family and if you were his family you were his friend. Nate was generous with his time and affection. He was a beloved uncle and godfather. He left a huge imprint on his many aunts, uncles and cousins with his infectious personality. Always goofy, loyal and ready to help Nate brightened every room he walked into. While the world feels a little dimmer without him in it, we take comfort in knowing he is with Jake. We will all forever yearn for one more hug from Nate but the love we have for him will live on eternally. A celebration of Nate's life 4 PM Tuesday, June 22nd with a gathering beginning at 2 PM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Please dress casually.

  10. We will miss Nate more than words can say. We are so thankful we were lucky to know him for so many years, even though it wasnt nearly long enough.

  11. Justin and Nate were always kindred spirits and had an incredible knack for getting up to no good together. One of my favorite shenanigan of theirs involved a jacuzzi in Nate and Brooke’s room in Puerto Vallarta. The boys decided to fill the jacuzzi up, first with water, and then with literally any soap they could find. What they didn’t know was that the mirror in the bathroom was also a window looking into the room and that Brooke and I were watching everything they were doing. As the bubbles started overflowing, we went in and told them to stop. We went back out and watched them keep at it, giggling like two little kids thinking they were getting away with it all. Then the bubbles flowed out of the tub and all over the bathroom and Brooke and I shocked them going back in to yell at them, so confused how we knew. Finally, suds started seeping through the exterior walls and us girls had to transform from wives into very furious mothers. Or at least we tried to anyways, and we managed to pull it off well enough that we got to go back outside and watch them clean up, still looking like two little kids, so disappointed their fun got shut down. It’s one of my favorite memories of all time and without a question a night that wouldn’t have ever happened without him. He was one in a million and he will be so incredibly missed.
