I’m so grateful for everything my dad did for me ALL my life! Believe me when I say it wasn’t easy being a daughter of such a disciplinarian as him! I sure did my share of testing every rule made! Even then, when the smoke blew over he still loved me unconditionally! It was my pleasure to take care of him these last few years! It’s funny how the table turns! Thank you Neill for everything you’ve ever given me including your love! You’ll be missed! Love Patty!!
I too am very thankful for a very nice family life Neill provided our family. By the time I was any trouble Neill and Mary were a bit worn down from the other four siblings. Besides I was the “baby of the family”. My brush with the law involved the silent treatment all the way home from the police didn’t say a word . When home he never told mom for one week. He needed that time to come up with my punishment. Judgement day came and he took my car away for one month. I was 16 and my car was everything. I paid the price for my crime I still chuckle now that I had a color coded set of keys for every car Neill owned for years. My friends and I thank you for buying full size Mercury Marques. One which Teresa and I used for our wedding. Thanks for the memories. Dave .
The pastor of our church often begins the service by asking the congregation ” What has God been doing in your life lately”. I reflect on that and all the blessings our family has received in life. I remember Mom & Neill’s 30th wedding anniversary celebration on a dinner cruise on Lake Minnetonka with family and closest friends. Being the eldest I had the honors of offering the “toast”….” To Neill & Mary, to Mom & Neill to a marriage made in heaven..how else do you explain a 31 yr. old bachelor marrying a woman with 5 kids ! ” The gathering laughed heartily and Mom came at me like she was going to slug me but with a glowing smile on her face. Funny how the blessings flowed, Neill set me up, despite my rough edges at the time into a very successful and rewarding business career. I am grateful i was able to come full circle to some degree and end up reciprocating during his retirement and final years. We ended up supporting each other through thick and thin. He and I were soul mates I believe and knew it, silently. What a fabulous soul he was, as my sister said ” Selfless, unconditional Love always “..
The world feels a bit less nice after learning that Uncle Neill has passed. Kind and smiling is how I remember him. In a “down to earth” way, he would step back and let others be the center of attention at family events but he reached out to everyone individually- making the effort to inquire about our lives and actually listening carefully enough to be able to follow up on our answers the next time we were together. He always treated us with respect – although we were just kids. And so now I pay my respects to him now with gratitude for his influence on my childhood/life. My heart goes out to you – Lee, Peggy, Mike, Patty, David and all of the family during this difficult time. Wishing you peace and comfort, I’ll keep you in my prayers. Blessings – your cousin Liz

Hey Neumann kids,
Dad and I were sitting here wondering about your folks as we had lost touch with them. So sorry to see they are gone. So many great memories of the 4th of July BBQ’s and shared holidays. One of the funniest was when out Dads sampled a little too much cold duck and ran over the willow tree in our backyard on the snowmobile. Glad to see you are all doing well and blessed your folks with so many grandchildren!
